Here is my latest "small" project. I really liked this angel when I saw in it Cross Stitch Collection but didnt want to do a big project. I had a picture frame which is lots of small frames stuck together which gave me the idea of just choosing little bits of the picture.

Using the pieces of glass from the frame I drew round them on a piece of sparkle linen then had to decide which bits of the picture should go in which frame. It took 2 afternoons of planning!

Then I had to cut out the individual pieces and mount them to go in the frames. That took most of this afternoon! It is a little different as a project but I rather like it.

And Yes, it's got beads and metallics in it! and fractional stitches too.

I'm very into Joan Elliot's work at the moment and I rather like the idea of doing lots of her different angels but just the head and shoulders all mounted in one frame like family portraits!

Currently stitching : JE Green Goddess, Tree of Stitches SAL, A Dark Alphabet, My Lovely Sewing Tools SAL and various smalls.

Unique indeed! That is lovely. I could never do anything like that. I'm not at all artistic. You should send it to one of the magazines I am sure it would get published.

Do you think so? I am quite tempted to send it in, I've never had anything in a magazine before.

I don't think I'm particularly artistic, I'm more mathematical and cross stitch is a very mathematical art to me! Counting all the squares, working out the best route to stitch to avoid travelling across the back etc. I spent ages planning this design moving bits of paper around! I think it was worth it Very Happy

I've sent an email off to Cross Stitch Collection as that's where I saw the chart! so watch this space. I even name dropped the forum - "my friends at XStitch Rules said I should send this in" so we may all get a mention Very Happy

Carol, do the magazines get in touch if they're going to print a letter or do I just have to keep an eye open in a few months time? I know they prepare copy a long way in advance so I won't be holding my breath!
